The study revealed that not only does the average Maryland man spend just under a half an hour prepping themselves for social activities, but that one in five men pluck their eyebrows, according to Tools of Men.
Years ago, the average time for a man to get ready was reportedly much lower, with the grooming advice website attributing social media to the increase in time in front of the mirror, suggesting the average man is being encouraged to "up his game".
The website polled 3,000 American men across the nation to find out just how long they spent getting ready, with the national average time also landing at a relaxing 27 minutes.
Delaware takes the top spot for the longest average time getting ready, clocking in at 35 minutes. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Montana men spend only a quick 10 minutes of grooming themselves.
The survey also found that men say that the element that takes up most time while getting ready for a night out is choosing their outfit (69%), doing their hair takes second (23%) while 8% said it is skin prepping - moisturizing, toning, shaving etc. Nearly a quarter of men (22%) confessed they actually pluck their eyebrows, while 10% said they would be prepared to get into debt buying grooming products such as razors, moisturizers, or teeth whitening products.
The most shocking find of all? That now 1 in 10 heterosexual men are finally admitting that they spend more time getting ready than their partners. To read the full study and check out the interactive map created by Tools of Men, click here.
